Flow control/shut-off valve assembly

Automatic Flow Valve Assembly for Fluid Management and Leak Detection

This invention presents an automatic flow valve assembly designed to regulate fluid flow (for a liquid or gas), detect leaks, and prevent wastage in various applications. The assembly includes a valve that can transition between open and closed positions, a controller for operating the valve, and mechanisms for determining fluid flow and automatically shutting off the valve when necessary. Two variations of the assembly are described: one with a mechanical system based on a diaphragm and piston arrangement, and the other utilizing an electronic setup with flow detectors and valves controlled by a microprocessor.

Market Applications

  • Residential: Prevents water wastage in homes by detecting and stopping leaky faucets, toilets, and appliances.
  • Commercial: Offers leak detection and flow control for larger-scale water and gas supply systems in offices, apartments, and industrial buildings.
  • Municipal: Can be utilized in public water supply networks to reduce water loss from leaks and improve overall resource efficiency.

Advantages

  • Leak Detection: By monitoring continuous flow over time, the system can detect and address leaks promptly, saving water or gas resources.
  • Flexibility: The invention can be applied to various scenarios, from residential toilets to larger building water mains, and even gas supply lines.

Problems Solved

  • Water and Gas Waste: Addresses the issue of wasteful water and gas consumption due to unnoticed leaks or excessive flow.
  • Timely Leak Detection: Provides a solution for identifying leaks before they cause significant damage, reducing potential repair costs.
