Kinos Medical
Company Background
Kinos Medical is a spin out of Drexel, developing innovative orthopedic technologies that improve patient outcomes while making care more affordable and efficient. Our first platform, the Axiom Anatomic(TM) Total Ankle Replacement System, merges ground-breaking biomechanics research and advanced software, to create the first anatomically accurate implant system for ankle replacement. Axiom allows surgeons to recreate natural anatomy in a diseased joint and restore patients' mobility and quality of life. From their inception, ankle replacements have been plagued with poor outcomes due to a fundamentally inaccurate understanding of the biomechanics of the joint. Leading research, conducted at Drexel by mechanical engineering professor Sorin Siegler, was the first to fully understand the natural function of the ankle joint. By incorporating this research, and other advanced technologies, Kinos Medical is bringing ankle replacement into the 21st century.
Kinos was founded by orthopedic industry veterans and is led by Brian Garvey. Brian holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel, is a prolific inventor and serial entrepreneur, having successfully launched multiple orthopedic franchises.
